Rose has been writing, directing and performing her own work for thirty years in venues as various as the Tate Britain, The Royal Court, Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Adelaide Festival, The Lincoln Center New York and The Venice Biennale.
What makes a good piece of theatre? Is it having a scintillating structure or creating a clever context? Is it producing a crowd pleaser? Is it pursuing a singular vision against the odds? Is it the ability to work well with skilled collaborators like designers, musicians, choreographers, writers, technicians or riggers? Is it dealing with the detail but knowing how to hold on to the big picture? This weekend workshop will embrace doubt, daring, tenacity and candour to enable you to make bold choices.
Rose has previously mentored directors for Circelation 2004 and 2005; this was a rare and exciting chance for circus performers.
"Rose English is unclassifiable. She combines grand gesture and precise detail to dizzyingly comic effect"
